Dispatch from the Phone: Photo Of The Day — “Reaching A State Of Spiritual Surrender”

(Feb 18th, 2012)

It was not a Sangeet in its strictest sense. It was a celebration of two friends the day before their big day, with poetry, dance, music, and singing. The spirit of the “ceremony” was achieved.

It was a true cultural festival, a gathering of many cultures. Performance art of Jazz, Western Classical, Samba, Latin Poetry, Gypsie Dance, Gymnastics, Spoken Word, Improvisation, Pop, Funk, to say the least, were all well represented.

Sal, of www.salmaktoub.com mesmerized us with the art of Egyptian Tanoura.  It is a dance form that all of us should experience at least once in our life time.
